The Best: Chosen by Those Who Use It

At Vieffetrade, we only select products that meet one non-negotiable requirement: they must be truly the best. That's why, when it comes to sinks, we now have a clear favourite. Franke. And it's not because we decided it at the drawing board. The reason is much simpler: our customers chose it.

With over 100 years of history, the Swiss Franke Group is one of the world's leading suppliers of products and services for domestic kitchens, foodservice and professional coffee machines. But there is one product in particular that is making its mark on thousands of modern kitchens around the world: Fragranite sinks.

Fragranite is a material that combines aesthetics and substance: it is beautiful to look at, pleasant to use and, over time, proves its durability. It is the perfect choice for those who want a contemporary kitchen that is also practical, resistant and easy to live with.

In this article, we will guide you through the strengths of Franke Fragranite sinks. We will introduce you to all the features of this innovative material, the five best-selling Fragranite sinks, the most popular colours of the moment and how to harmoniously match the mixer tap.

If you are designing a new kitchen or want to renovate your existing one, you are in the right place: let's get started.

Fragranite: What It Is and How Long It Lasts

Minimum effort, maximum results. If cleaning the kitchen is a chore and stainless steel bores you, throw in the towel and sit back. Fragranite is Franke's “smart composite”: a mixture designed for everyday kitchen use, composed of approximately 80% quartz sand and 20% very hard acrylic resin, with integrated pigments for rich, stable colours.

The surface is designed to be non-porous, making it more hygienic and less prone to absorbing stains. In practice, this means good resistance to “everyday” scratches and knocks (pots, crockery, small impacts), as well as high temperatures: Franke indicates short-term resistance up to 280 °C (approximately 10-15 seconds).

How long does it last? With regular cleaning and no avoidable stress (no cutting directly in the sink and be careful with extreme thermal shocks), Fragranite sinks can remain beautiful and perform well for many years, often for decades, even in the most lived-in kitchens. In short, it is an investment that can last a lifetime.

How to Clean a Fragranite Sink: Tips and Products

Fragranite is ‘zero drama’ if you treat it with care. For daily cleaning, all you need is a neutral detergent and a non-abrasive sponge, but if you want to be on the safe side, Franke also recommends its dedicated products, such as KITCHEN CARE Coloured Sink Cleaner 250 ml, designed specifically for Fragranite sinks and also useful against deposits and odours.

The real trick? After each use, rinse and dry with a microfibre cloth. This is the most effective way to keep away limescale marks and residues that, over time, can become an invitation for bacteria.

But don't worry, Franke has you covered: with Sanitized® treatment, integrated directly into the material, the growth of bacteria and microorganisms is effectively combated, with a declared reduction of up to 99%. The silver ions in the composition act continuously, providing 24-hour active protection on the sink surface.

Why Fragranite Finishes Are Popular: 9 Shades

If there is one quality that makes Fragranite so popular, it is its ability to remain elegant without excess: clean lines, essential style and a colour that retains its intensity over time. It is a material designed for those who want a kitchen that is ‘always current’, not tied to the fashions of the moment. And with 9 shades available, finding the right one becomes (almost) fun. Why almost? They're not T-shirts, you can't have them all!

Among the most striking choices is Black Matt, a refined matt black that adds depth to the room and highlights details and finishes – we'll talk more about this later. Overall, the range features natural, textured colours, from warmer tones inspired by sand and earth to contemporary greys and deeper blacks, perfect for creating harmonious and timeless combinations.

The result? A highly successful compromise between aesthetics and performance, for a contemporary and distinctive kitchen that is both beautiful to look at and practical to live in.

How to Match your Franke Fragranite Sink with your Mixer Tap

Matching a Franke Fragranite sink with a mixer tap is easier than it seems: the simplest (and always elegant) solution is to choose the same finish (from the same brand), creating a coordinated and clean effect. A risk-free, tailor-made result.

If, on the other hand, you want a more sophisticated look, play with contrasts! With intense shades such as Black Matt or Slate Grey, a matt black mixer tap creates a minimalist, contemporary effect; satin stainless steel, on the other hand, brightens and lightens the whole with a technical touch – and you can never go wrong with stainless steel.

With warm colours inspired by sand and earth, chrome or steel finishes work very well because they enhance the light and make the environment more welcoming.

One last tip: repeat the finish of the mixer tap in another detail (handles, accessories, lamp). This way, the combination looks truly designed, not improvised.

So:

  • Same finish for both
  • Use contrasts by combining dark tones + matt or stainless steel mixer
  • Light tones + stainless steel

Franke Sink in Black Fragranite: The New Classic in the Kitchen

Black has become the most popular choice in modern kitchens: it is minimalist and elegant. The Fragranite Black Matt or Nero finish is appealing because it adds depth to the room and enhances contemporary materials such as wood, marble, quartz and stone-effect worktops. What's more, it's a shade that stands up well to changes in style: even if you change your chairs or lamps in a few years' time, black will always remain consistent. Combined with a matt black mixer tap, it creates a super contemporary total black look; with satin stainless steel, on the other hand, you get a technical and luminous contrast. It's not just a trend: it's a new kitchen classic.

5 Technical Information for Choosing a Sink Safely

  1. You may not see the mixer tap hole in the illustrative images. The hole, or rather the pre-drilled hole, is indicated in the technical drawing in the Download section or in the photo section. Is there no indication in the drawing? Then the sink may not be pre-drilled. What is a pre-drilled hole? A small mould under the sink that indicates to the technician where to complete the hole for your mixer tap. Generally, steel sinks arrive pre-drilled, while composite sinks only have the pre-hole. The presence of more than one pre-hole indicates that the sink is most likely suitable for the optional installation of dispensers and drains with remote control for automatic drainage.
  2. The sink measurements are not the same as the hole for installation! Check both carefully, with the help of the technical drawings. If you are unsure, always seek the advice of a technician.
  3. Most sinks come with a drain kit and siphon included; this information is usually indicated in the description. If it is not there, the manufacturer may be taking it for granted: in this case, do not hesitate to contact us!
  4. Pay attention to the minimum base size required to accommodate the sink. What is the “minimum base”? This is the external width of the cabinet/module required to correctly accommodate the sink basin (or basins), ensuring that there is sufficient space for the fixing hooks and the side walls of the cabinet itself. It does not therefore correspond to the overall size of the sink.
  5. Check the minimum thickness of the worktop and the type of installation required (top-mounted, under-mounted, flush-mounted).
