I know, doing the washing-up is definitely not your favourite thing to do, but… look at it this way: at least someone invented it! If you're reading this, it means you're about to abandon your tub and sponge, or that you need to replace your old model. At Vieffetrade, we're here not only to motivate you, but also to simplify your life and show you not only which are the best-selling dishwashers, but also how to choose one.
A few small details – such as automatic door opening, height-adjustable baskets or sanitising programmes – could make you a much happier Cinderella (or Cinderello!).
Every day we answer dozens of questions from our Customers, so we have decided to summarise them here, answering the most common ones.
Let's get started!

Types of installation
First, let's take a quick look at the types of installation you'll find in our catalogue:
- Fully integrated dishwasher. The dishwasher is completely hidden behind a kitchen door. The control panel is on the top edge of the door, visible only when the door is open. From the outside, it looks like a normal piece of furniture.
- Freestanding dishwasher. This is the classic “visible” dishwasher, with a steel or white front and top panel. It can stand alone or under the kitchen worktop, but does not require a cabinet door.
- Dishwasher with sliding hinges. This is a fully integrated dishwasher with sliding hinges: the kitchen door “slides” slightly when you open it. It is designed to fit better with low plinths or special kitchens.
- Partially integrated dishwasher. Built-in with a door that matches the kitchen, but the control panel remains visible at the top of the front. You will therefore see a strip with buttons/display and the kitchen panel underneath.
- Under-counter dishwasher. Similar to a freestanding model but without a top, designed to be tucked under the worktop. The front remains visible and should not be covered with a door.

Which one should you choose?
To choose the most suitable type, ask yourself these questions:
- How important is the aesthetics of your kitchen to you? Do you want a super clean kitchen, where the dishwasher “disappears”? → Fully integrated (or sliding if you have a low plinth). Do you like to see the control panel with remaining time and programmes? → Partially integrated. Are you not interested in hiding it and perhaps you already have other appliances on display? → Free-standing or under-counter.
- Is the kitchen already in place or are you designing it now? New kitchen: if you are having it designed, it is easier; if you have to buy it ready-made, find out immediately about the sizes available for the dishwasher. Existing kitchen/rented house: a freestanding or under-counter model is often easier. In this case, you already know your requirements.
- Budget and future flexibility. Freestanding models generally cost a little less and are easier to move. Built-in models are perfect if you plan to keep the kitchen for a long time and want maximum aesthetic continuity.

Quick summary:
- If you want top aesthetics → fully integrated/sliding
- If you want visible controls → partially integrated
- If you want practicality and savings → free installation
- If you just need it to fit under the worktop → under-worktop
Finally, it may seem obvious… but trust us, it's not: THE MEASUREMENTS!
Mini checklist before purchasing
- Measure the width, height and depth of the space (not just the cabinet).
- Check compatibility with the plinth.
- Check noise levels and energy class.
- Check the space for door opening and sliding door movement (if sliding).
- Make sure you have accessible water supply/drainage points and a power socket.
- In the case of freestanding or under-counter dishwashers, check whether you need to leave space for ventilation.
- With regard to built-in dishwashers, remember that the product images are illustrative! The door panel is not usually included! You will need to have it installed by your technician, based on your kitchen layout.

Dishwasher place settings: what they are and how to choose them
In theory, 1 place setting corresponds to service for 1 person, i.e. (simplified):
- 1 dinner plate
- 1 soup plate
- 1 saucer
- 1 glass
- cutlery (fork, knife, spoon, teaspoon)
In standard tests, there are also some additional items, but the idea is: how many people can “eat” before you have to start washing up.
So, in practice:
- 10 place settings → suitable for 1–2 people, or small kitchens
- 12 place settings → small family (2–3 people)
- 13–14 place settings → family of 3–4 people
- 15–16 place settings and above → large families or those who cook a lot
Please note!
The number of place settings does not really take into account large pots, baking trays and bulky bowls. Two 14-place setting dishwashers can be very different in terms of practicality, depending on:
- how the baskets are designed,
- whether you can adjust the height of the upper basket,
- whether there are dedicated areas for pots/baking trays,
- whether you have a third cutlery drawer instead of a traditional basket.

Slim dishwashers are the classic ‘small but tough’ appliances: they take up little space but do a big job. They are perfect for compact kitchens, minimalist open spaces or flats where every centimetre counts, without compromising on comprehensive programmes, low energy consumption and smart functions.
